Dave McHarg founded Inspirit to fulfill an ambitious vision: the transformation of the experience of aging in this country. Dave’s deeply held belief is that every human being has dreams to pursue—and gifts to share—at every stage of life. The Inspirit family of properties directly reflects Dave’s commitment to a senior care experience that infuses new energy, vigor, and sense of purpose into its residents’ lives.

Dave’s vision has been honed through almost 30 years of experience as a senior executive with regional and national senior living companies. Prior to founding Inspirit, Dave held progressively responsible leadership positions at Greenfield Senior Living, a regional provider headquartered in Falls Church, (VA), ultimately serving as Greenfield’s president and chief operating officer. Under Dave’s leadership, Greenfield grew from two local facilities to more than 20 facilities serving more than 1,300 residents in six states (VA, MD, PA, NJ, TN, and TX).

As Greenfield grew, so did Dave’s reputation for transforming under-performing facilities into thriving communities. He brings an unusual mix of gifts to the table, embracing a visionary understanding of what the resident’s experience should be and combining that vision with the drive and the skills to attract investment, run successful businesses, and turn dreams into reality.

Before joining Greenfield, Dave had been executive director of a large Sunrise Senior Living community in Alexandria, Virginia. His commitment to delivering quality program activities, enhancing facility amenities, and nurturing top quality staff filled the facility to capacity and earned him the Chairman’s Club award for “best performing Sunrise mansion.”

Dave began his healthcare career working for an acute rehabilitation hospital, then expanded into subacute rehabilitation within the skilled nursing home setting. Raised in Bermuda, Dave received a degree in business administration from Eastern University.

SAM ZARRABINIA

Chief Financial Officer

Sam Zarrabinia is Inspirit’s leader on all matters related to financial strategy. He is responsible for structuring acquisition transactions, crafting tax strategy, mitigating risk, and creating financial projections and reports. He also supports CEO Dave McHarg in managing relationships with Inspirit’s investors.

Sam’s professional experience for more than a decade has focused on providing the best innovative solutions. Prior to joining Inspirit, he worked in a series of progressively responsible management positions for Snyder Cohn, one of the Washington, DC area’s leading certified public accountancy and financial advisory firms. At Snyder Cohn, Sam worked with businesses in the hospitality, health care and real estate industries. He advised his clients in various areas of tax law, and provided expert consultation on mergers and acquisitions, interest transfers, and financial reporting.

Sam is a certified public accountant and received a master’s in taxation from the Kogod School of Business at The American University in Washington, DC. He strives to make every day the best day lived and hopes to achieve the same for our resident’s lives.

JONATHAN BARBIERI

Chief Operating Officer

Jonathan Barbieri serves as Inspirit’s Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer; a strategic partner who provides organizational leadership over Inspirit’s existing and growing portfolio in the areas of operations, revenue, development, programs, and services.  Jonathan is an inspirational leader who is driven by his passion to serve and to create exceptional healthcare and lifestyle solutions.  Jonathan is a nationally recognized healthcare leader whose success can be attributed to his unwavering belief in the potential for betterment in every person.  Jonathan has over a decade of experience in operations, clinical practice, sales & marketing, finance, investor relations, training, and development.  Prior to joining Inspirit Jonathan served as The Hearth Management’s Senior Vice President responsible for organizational oversight, global strategy, and leadership over the mid-Atlantic, northeast, and Midwest.  Prior to joining The Hearth Management, Jonathan’s experience includes Chief Marketing Officer for Greenfield Senior Living, Vice President of Resident Care for Sunrise Senior Living, and States Director of Caregiver Homes.  Jonathan began his career in healthcare as a staff RN in the ICU serving severely compromised individuals.  It is from this early experience that Jonathan envisioned the great potential in people and services that can create betterment for all, regardless of circumstance.

Jake DeSantis

Director of Wellness Services

Jake DeSantis is responsible for healthcare oversight, working closely with Inspirit corporate leadership and with all Inspirit Senior Living communities to ensure that every community’s wellness department has the tools they need to deliver the highest quality care for our residents. Jake brings his years of experience to provide hands-on support and guidance to help Inspirit team members achieve personal, community, regional, and corporate goals.

Jake began his career in 1990 as a Medical Specialist in the United States Army and went on to receive his Licensed Practical Nursing education in San Francisco, California in the late 1990s. Since then, he has held civilian positions in skilled care, acute care, and pediatrics. His many years of experience in the assisted living industry include a long tenure as regional director of healthcare services for a network of more than 20 assisted living communities throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Virginia.

In his off-work hours, Jake likes to spend quality time with his wife and four children.

Jonathan Thompson

Director of Innovation and Operational Excellence

Jonathan Thompson brings nearly two decades of progressive leadership in healthcare operations, nursing, compliance, and training to Inspirit Senior Living. Since joining the organization, Jonathan has held several key roles, including Regional Director of Operations and Director of Training and Development. In each of these positions, he has made a measurable impact on campus performance, clinical oversight, and leadership growth.

Now serving as the Director of Innovation and Operational Excellence, Jonathan leads Inspirit’s strategic initiatives that elevate community performance and establish consistent standards of excellence across the company. He has developed and implemented several of Inspirit’s most impactful programs, including leadership development, campus skills training, operational systems improvement, and clinical excellence tools. Each of these efforts reinforces Inspirits reputation as a best-in-class provider.

Jonathan began his healthcare career in 2005 as a state-tested nursing assistant and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2008. His professional journey includes roles as Unit Supervisor, Assistant Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, Executive Director of Assisted Living Communities, and Regional Director. These diverse experiences enable Jonathan to serve as a trusted advisor across departments, providing hands-on support and forward-focused leadership.

Known for his passion for people and commitment to excellence, Jonathan’s influence can be seen and felt across all Inspirit communities. His dedication to coaching, innovation, and accountability contributes to the company’s ongoing growth and success.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, attending live music events, and experimenting with new recipes at home. His energy, warmth, and vision continue to shape Inspirits culture in meaningful and lasting ways.

Steve Johnson

Senior Director of Project and Facilities Management

Steve Johnson serves as Inspirit’s head of Facilities Management and Development, leading all matters related to project management, capital planning and budgeting, asset management and investment, facilities management, and procurement.  In his role, Steve oversees and directs facilities operations for the entire portfolio, as he is exclusively responsible to the President/CEO on matters that impact the company.  Steve is entrusted with the vital responsibility of advancing and influencing Inspirit’s expanding physical infrastructure and facilities.  He plays the principal role in guaranteeing that the organization’s facilities are optimally aligned with its operational needs and mission to create communities that foster health and well-being for all.

A strategic and inspirational leader, Steve has amassed over 19 years of executive experience providing purposeful leadership to innovative organizations with global reach.  Throughout his professional career, he has demonstrated a strong ability to drive continued process and operational improvements across various industries for both public and private companies.  Steve has proved central to developing Inspirit’s capital plans, partnering with CEO Dave McHarg to align programmatic needs with available facility space, devise creative solutions, and prioritize renovation projects.  With expansive exposure to the transportation and logistics industry, non-profit organizations, project management, and facilities oversight, Steve provides a compassionate yet knowledgeable basis to elevate the performance and capability of Inspirit’s portfolio.

Above all else, Steve leads with humility and a caring heart for others.  Chief among his priorities is to ensure that our residents are provided with every opportunity to live their best life – physically, mentally, and spiritually – through meaningful relationships and purposeful facilities.  Steve considers it an honor and a joy to serve Inspirit’s residents.

Besides his professional accomplishments, Steve enjoys personal time with his wife and three children.  Their favorite pastimes include hiking, kayaking, exploring the country on family vacations, volunteering, and being active in their faith.  Steve believes his family and the time spent with them to be the finest blessing of life.

Doug Blevins

Doug Blevins

Director of Project and Facilities Management

As Director of Project & Facilities Management Doug is responsible for managing capital improvement projects and overseeing facility management operations for all Inspirit properties. Doug works closely with CEO-David McHarg, along with architects, contractors and designers to create fresh, new and innovative senior living experiences for our residents. Doug will evaluate, analyze and approve budgets, contracts and timelines for remodeling, new construction and capital improvements. He also works closely with community maintenance directors to oversee facility management and ensure that life safety requirements are upheld.

Doug brings more than 20 years as a Real Estate professional, design consultant, as well as urban and municipal planner in South Florida. Doug helped to develop Architectural and Landscape Design Guidelines for local municipalities. Doug has worked closely with city, county and state officials and has vast experience in site planning, building codes, interior and exterior design detail as well as landscape design.

Doug is a proud member of the Inspirit family and his role with Inspirit Senior Living will help ensure that quality, safety, and aesthetics come together to provide an exceptional senior living experience in a warm and inviting environment.

Connie Clem

Regional Director of Inspirational Leadership

In Connie’s position of Regional Director of Inspirational Leadership, she is responsible for shaping the culture of Inspirit Senior Living. Her direction and leadership shapes a spirit of truth, trust, and integrity. Her responsibilities include training, both with our staff, and our communities. She provides daily inspiration to our teams to encourage their efforts, enthusiasm and creativity. She also provides support to families, residents and staff. She strives to inspire everyone to find positive solutions.

Connie comes to Inspirit with 40 years of experience in the field of working with seniors and persons with disabilities. She has been a leader with children and adults with disabilities and currently serves in the community as an advocate for seniors and others that need special services. She has been a Director of an Assisted Living Facility and a Director of Community Relations and Education.

The goals that Connie pursues in life and with Inspirit Senior Living, is to provide love and kindness to all individuals, both those who serve and those who are being served.

Darlene Klamerus

Director of Operations

Darlene Klamerus joined Inspirit Senior Living as a Regional Director of Operations serving 13 communities in the state of PA, WV, and DE.  She has been in the senior living industry for 20 years, working as Executive Director, Sr. Executive Director, Operations Specialist and Regional Director roles. Prior to that she worked in the public sector providing residential, educational, and mental health treatment services to individuals needing developmental and/or mental health services in a variety of positions. This time in her career allowed her to lay the foundation for her future success as a change maker and problem solver.

She has been successful working with underperforming communities and moving them to more effective and efficient operations. Her commitment to servant leadership and passion for serving the senior population has been the driving force behind her success in creating environments where excellence in service can thrive.

Darlene graduated from the California University of PA with a bachelor’s degree in social work early on in her career and then several years later went back to college to obtain a master’s degree in business administration. She has more than 45 years of experience serving the needs of our most vulnerable populations, starting in direct caregiving roles, and moving into progressively responsible roles in leadership.

In her personal life Darlene enjoys spending time with her family and supporting her church as a member of their choir, she also enjoys the creativity of crafting. Darlene finds time to participates on 2 non-profit boards that support advocacy for mental wellness and advocacy for senior services in PA.

Elijah Brisbone

Director of Operations

Elijah commenced his career in the Senior Living sector in 2006 as an Executive Director. Since that time, he has occupied various roles in Assisted Living, Independent Living, and Skilled Nursing, including positions as Administrator, Operations Specialist, and Director of Operations. His extensive experience in the Senior Living industry encompasses a significant tenure as Regional Director of Operations, overseeing large portfolios across multiple states. Elijah is a licensed Administrator in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. He also serves as a preceptor and educator for new administrators in both New Jersey and Virginia. Additionally, Elijah has been a board member of the Virginia Assisted Living Association (VALA) for over 14 years.

In his personal time, Elijah enjoys spending quality moments with his family. He shares a passion for traveling to various countries with his wife, Tammy, and has a particular fondness for the Caribbean. Elijah is also a proud father of five and a devoted grandfather to three grandchildren, whom he cherishes deeply.

Ryan McCarthy

RDO & Regional Wellness Specialist

Ryan McCarthy is an accomplished clinical professional with nearly a decade of dedicated experience in the healthcare industry. Specializing in home healthcare administration, assisted living, skilled nursing, and Director of Nursing roles, Ryan currently holds the position of Regional Director of Operations at Inspirit Senior Living, where he has consistently demonstrated a track record of excellence in senior living management.

With a background that includes serving as an Executive Director for assisted living and a Director of Nursing, Ryan has consistently showcased his exceptional leadership and management skills. In his current role as Regional Director of Operations, he is widely recognized for his expertise in budget management, consistently surpassing financial targets while upholding the highest standards of care. Ryan is known for providing invaluable support to his teams, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.

Throughout his extensive career in the industry, Ryan has consistently shown an unwavering commitment to budget management, team support, and development. He is a highly respected and accomplished professional in the senior living management sector, dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of care at Inspirit Senior Living.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ryan treasures his personal time, which he dedicates to quality moments with his 6-year-old son. As a devoted father, he takes pride in attending his son’s flag football games and actively participates in and supports his child’s extracurricular activities.

Krystall Brown

Regional Recruitment Specialist

Krystall Brown serves as the Regional Recruitment Specialist at Inspirit. With an extensive background spanning two decades in healthcare, Krystall began her journey as a State Tested Nursing Assistant, specializing in total care, assisted living environments, and Hospice. Throughout her career, Krystall’s versatile skill set led her to various roles, including business office management, human resources, scheduling, and recruitment hiring within office. Krystall holds a wealth of experience in healthcare, backed by her dedication to continuous learning and professional development. Her journey is marked by a relentless commitment to excellence and a passion for making a difference in the lives of others and her teams. In her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her family, taking hikes, and getting lost in a good book.

Alyssa McWilliams

Director of Sales

Alyssa has been with Inspirit Senior Living for over five years, and truly loves being part of this team. She started her Inspirit journey as a Community Relations Director at The Gardens at Cuyahoga Falls and has grown into roles as Senior Community Relations Director, Sales Onboarding & Training Specialist, and now Director of Sales for Inspirit. With 10 years in healthcare, she is passionate about relationship-driven sales and helping our teams connect with families in a meaningful way.

Outside of work, she is a proud mom to an amazing daughter and grateful to have a supportive partner by her side. She loves traveling, hiking, and exploring new places whenever she can. Stepping into this leadership role, she is excited for the opportunity to drive growth, empower our CRDs, and make a lasting impact on our communities. Inspirit has been an incredible place to grow, and she is committed to helping our teams reach new heights!

Katie McHale

Director of Marketing & Sales

Katie comes to Inspirit Senior Living with over 10 years of marketing experience in the senior living space. She’s previously held roles with Holiday Retirement, Milestone Retirement, and Hearth Senior Living. As Inspirit’s Director of Marketing & Sales, Katie has a passion for finding creative ways to generate leads, coaching sales teams, and implementing processes to help drive occupancy. Katie holds a B.A. in Public Relations from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA.

Taylor McHarg

Director of Strategic Development & Acquisitions

Taylor McHarg, is a results-oriented professional with a passion for excellence, currently serving as the Director of Strategic Development & Acquisitions at Inspirit Senior Living. Holding a Master’s in Real Estate Development & Urbanism from the University of Miami, Taylor’s career at Inspirit began in Sales and Marketing before evolving into a leadership role overseeing capital improvement and renovation projects for newly acquired senior living communities.

Taylor combines exceptional project management skills, a keen eye for detail, and design expertise to deliver successful projects on time and within budget. Her innovative approach and creative vision set each project apart, ensuring they meet both functional and aesthetic goals. Her strong foundation in real estate development allows her to evaluate financials, craft compelling development proposals, and identify key growth opportunities.

In her current role, Taylor is instrumental in expanding Inspirit’s footprint through strategic acquisitions, feasibility analysis, capital enhancements, and supporting investor relations. Her analytical mindset, creative problem-solving abilities, and unwavering commitment to excellence contribute to positioning Inspirit as a leader in senior living innovation and growth.

Martine Minninger

Regional Operations Specialist

With over 30 years of experience in Senior Living, Martine plays a pivotal role as a Regional Operations Specialist with Inspirit Senior Living. Her expertise in streamlining processes and driving operational excellence will help the communities that she supports within the organization. Martine joined Inspirit Senior Living after leading operations as an Executive Director in senior living communities as well as other leadership roles within the industry.  As the Regional Operations Specialist, Martine focuses on improving internal systems, enhancing productivity, and ensuring the company’s commitment to delivering quality service.

Martine has her Bachelors of Science in Health Care Administration as well as her Nursing Home Administrators License in the states of Pennsylvania and Delaware. 

During her time away from work she loves to golf, watch football and baseball, but most of all get outdoors to enjoy some live music.  She loves her blended family, just like the brady bunch and a beautiful dog named Jeter (yes, after Derek Jeter).
