Our senior living staff disinfects using a solution of electrolyzed water that is extremely powerful, yet natural and green-certified. It is made onsite using a simple technology that’s been around for 50 years and remarkably, contains the same substance your white blood cells produce naturally to fight infection.
Here's how Viking Pure's technology works:
- Viking Pure’s proprietary machine uses salt and regular cold tap water.
- An electrolysis process separates the salt molecules into their basic parts (sodium and chlorine).
- Adding more fresh water, this process creates two electrolyzed water solutions: one disinfectant, with an active ingredient being HOCl, or hypochlorous acid, and a multi-purpose cleaner and degreaser, with an active ingredient of sodium hydroxide.
Our Pure Health Program
Adding to the distinct level of care we perform, our communities adhere to a strict disinfecting schedule. Besides our traditional cleaning routine, extra germ-fighting attention is given where needed.
- Dining rooms are disinfected before breakfast and after dinner.
- The lobby is disinfected daily.
- Hallways, elevators, common areas and employee break rooms are disinfected at least two to three times per week.
- Residents’ personal apartments are disinfected during regularly scheduled housekeeping.
The Science
The Comfort
The Viking Pure solution is mild to the senses so you’ll never be aware of the invisible work happening. We spray communities daily, then allow surfaces to dry, killing germs from the inside, out to prevent attaching to human cells, which can cause infection. Both solutions are Non-corrosive to keep furnishings looking new and never leave behind a harsh, “cleaner” smell that can aggravate asthma or cause respiratory discomfort.

A Viking Pure electrolyzed water generator is installed at each Inspirit Senior Living community. It is connected to power and fresh cold water and salt is routinely added to the machine. Controls are set and the machine begins electrolyzing the water and salt mixture to separate the Na and the Cl- (sodium and chlorine) in the salt to produce these powerful, yet odorless cleaning and disinfecting solutions.

- It has been used for industrial cleaning and disinfecting for over 50 years.
- It is effective against a broad range of germs, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi.
- It is safe to use on most surfaces and does not require rinsing.
- It is not available for purchase in stores because it loses its effectiveness over time.
- It is made onsite using a special appliance.
- It is registered with the EPA as a disinfectant that kills 99.9% of germs, including Norovirus and SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
- The power of the disinfectant is in the presence of hypochlorous acid (HOCl), which is also produced by white blood cells to fight infection.
